My Book Signing

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

My book signing this past Saturday at Borders in York Pa. was one of the best yet. Not because I sold a lot of books, which I didn’t, but because of the people I met there. I always meet new and interesting people at my book signings and also people I know I was suppose to meet and this Saturday was no exception. To those people let me say thank you for buying my book, but more importantly for taking the time to talk with me. It means a lot. Something else that met a lot to me and helped in making this signing one of the best yet, was talking with some old class mates.  One of them who I call my biggest fan showed up to have her book signed and talk for awhile, as did another class mate and his wonderful wife, while another female classmate who just happened to be there, ended up buying a copy of my book and also talking for awhile. If you read my book you’ll understand why it means so much to me to meet new people, especially the ones I know I’m suppose to meet, and you’ll also understand why it felt so good to talk with my old classmates. However, for the purpose of this post let me just say that Saturday went a long way in reminding me how much I’ve grown both spiritually and as a person and how much I love meeting and talking with people at my book signings.

America The Beautiful

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

I really try and stay away from politics these days but…. Whether we agree or disagree that a Mosque should be built 2 blocks away from where the Twin Towers were, I hope we can agree on one thing.  The government at the time should have focused a lot more on rebuilding the site, the area, our country, and the nation’s hearts after the attack on 9/11 instead of eventually invading Iraq. My heart goes out to the families of the 9/11 victims, but it also goes out to the families of all the soldiers who lost their lives in a war that I feel should have never been started. I love my country because it was a melting pot of people from all over the world who came here to live because of what it stood for. We can be that country again, but we first need to stop arguing about which religion or political party is the best, and find a way to start getting along with each other. Science tells us we’re all made of the same matter and in that sense we’re all one. Now it’s just a question of acting that way towards one another.
